Game Artwork

Created for a 'Jewel Quest' type game to be released in the winter of 2012. I created the Icon artwork and User Interface Elements in Illustrator from sketches I had done in Photoshop and in my Notebook. The Icons went through a couple iterations as the game play was tweaked out. The final artwork was pieced together and laid out in what is called a 'Sprite Sheet' so the App only has to load one image file that it then is programmed to pull pieces from - the Sprites. I also worked on the game mechanics and flow of the App.

Illustration - The Octopus of Time

These drawings are for a Kids Book in Progress - "The Octopus of Time" coming out in eBook and on-demand publishing the fall of 2012. The writer is a childrens performer and TV star of Didiversiones! based in Morelos, Mexico. Working with another artist on a project is one of the great joys of life. It has been a unique challenge to illustrate the ideas in someone elses head, and so far the work is looking great. A great combination of my sketchbook look and her childrens story told in two languages.

New Freak City

Character Design

These strange little creatures began life in my Notebook and were converted to Vector art to become an Animation in Adobe After Effects. New Freak City is a mash up of the 'island of misbegotten toys' from the classic Christmas Claymation and The Real World. These rescued imaginings must make their way in the world, only having each other and their oddball wits to guide them.

DVD Package

I was involved from filming to final product on this project. I created the DVD package and disk Artwork using photos from the show and elements and logos created in Illustrator. The Menus were created in Photoshop and the edited / mixed show and additional media were brought together into DVD form inside Adobe Encore. The DVD is selling well in its market and is also used a promotional piece for potential clients of The London Broil Show.

Flash Animation

I was contacted by a fellow designer who knew I had done some flash animation in the past, he had a client that needed a cool intro to his new website. After a couple rounds of back and forth to get the look of the 'old style' slow zombie and the 'new' fast zombie down I worked up a flash movie with some keyframes and interesting coding (which was based on code fragments I found on the web) to make the remote control follow the mouse. The user can choose the Fast or Slow zombie and that one jumps out of the screen to greet you. Sound and a little gore were added for effect.

The Internet Misses You

T-Shirt Design

I wanted a T-Shirt from Skaratech to give away to Clients and Friends. I worked up a couple different designs and finally settled on this. A sad, dripping computer with a tear, Missing You. I figured with people being encouraged to disconnect and spend more time outdoors our new friend 'Internet' was feeling lonely and left out. After converting the drawing into Vector art in Illustrator I printed out the artwork onto a Transparency and using Photo Emulsion and a very bright light - created my own Silk Screen. It was nice to be involved in a 'messy' project - computer artwork is too clean at times. I was happy with the final product and look forward to making more of my own designs into shirts in the future.

Illustration

Robot Boy goes to School is an image created to illustrate an idea. One day our Half-Robot Half-Organic wifi enabled children will be heading off to their first day of Cyber Studies taking with them their Lunchbox full of Protein Shakes and their Talking Assistant Dogs. What type of world are we leaving for them? Make sure to do one small thing today to ensure a healthy and happy ecosystem and culture for our children of the future.

Monsters All Day (MAD)

Kids Book Concept

Kids need to know that they are not the only ones that get into trouble. They also need to know how to take responsibility for the trouble they get into. This work in progress is intended to be a jumping off point for that conversation. The Monsters get themselves into situations and cause problems that kids may be able to relate to. Parents need to open the dialogue so kids don't feel lost or separated in times of trouble and confusion. Talking about what can be done to fix a situation and how to avoid a troubling moment is the first step to not becoming a Monster All Day.

JJ Flash needed some vector based artwork for the website he was creating. From his sketches I created the above art and more for the "Hey Nunnie Nunnie" website. Seeing the bird fly across the screen and land on the sign was the highlight of this project for me.

Tiny Quest!

iPhone Game Prototype

I wanted to learn how to make a game. So I did. Working from some sketches in my Notebook, and brushing up on some programming I created Tiny Quest! It was harder than I thought at times, but so rewarding to see a game I made on my iPhone. From concept thru artwork and into Objective-C programming I created a very simple 'labryinth' type game. You rotate the iPhone to move your harvesting crab around the game screen collecting red berries and avoiding purple ones. When I have the time I want create more, adding levels, achievements and different options to the game.

Website - Geek Artist Comedian

This is a Showcase website, with a Blog and Adsense/Affiliate Marketing thrown in for fun. Basically a Wordpress site that has been heavliy modified from its orginal theme. I learned alot about CSS, JavaScript, Databases and how to roll your own Theme during the course of creating this website. Many pieces of art were created for this site, from 'stickers' for the six pillars section to thumbnails and post artwork for the blog. It was endless fun to create a site that brings together so many of my passions.

Website - The London Broil Show

I wanted to create a clean and simple site with the amazing image by Steve Parke of WhatDesign? as the centerpiece. I used the Logo I made for the DVD package and worked the color scheme of that and the London Broil Boys show costumes into the overall design. The large icons on the side lead to Videos, Facebook and a 'Booking' Page. Also there is a link to The DML Podcast - over 20 episodes of Fun, Fun, Funny.

Notebook Sketches

I try to draw everyday, at least Doodle something. I have sixteen notebooks filled with ideas and sketches. My favorite pen, after trying out many, is the Pilot Precise V5 - perfect flow and a great line. Ideas and Inspirations are always on my mind, I make sure to keep my notebook always within arms reach. Combine the Notebook and Pen with an iPhones camera and some Artistic Apps and you have a Studio in your Pocket.
